Nail Pop Repair in Bala Cynwyd, PA

Nail Pop Repair in Bala Cynwyd, PA

A nail pop is a roofing nail that has worked its way back up out of the deck. You see it as a small bump under a shingle, or a shingle with a hole punched through it from below. The usual causes are nails that missed the rafter or sheathing, wood that shrinks and swells with the seasons, or nails driven at an angle by a nail gun with the pressure set wrong.

Each pop is a hole. Over time the nail head rubs through the shingle above, and water follows the shank into the deck.

Bala Cynwyd, PA Shingle Roof Repair connects homeowners in Bala Cynwyd, PA with shingle roof repair crews who fix nail pops properly:

• Breaking the seal and lifting the shingle carefully
• Pulling the popped nail rather than hammering it back down
• Driving a new nail beside the old hole, into solid wood
• Sealing the old hole with roofing cement
• Replacing the shingle above if the nail has punched through it

One or two pops are a quick repair. Dozens across a slope usually mean a nailing problem from install, which a crew can explain.
